2. What data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Identity data: your name
  • Contact data: email address, phone number, postal address, postcode
  • Vehicle data: registration number (VRM), make, model, year, fuel type, colour, MOT history, tax status
  • Booking data: services requested, dates, times, prices, payment status
  • Payment data: processed securely by Stripe and PayPal — we do not store card numbers
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited (via cookies — see our Cookie Policy)

3. How we use your data

We use your data for the following purposes and legal bases:

  • Performing our contract with you: processing bookings, delivering services, sending confirmations and invoices
  • Legitimate interests: improving our services, communicating service reminders (MOT, service due dates), fraud prevention
  • Legal obligation: financial records (HMRC), vehicle safety recalls, responding to lawful requests
  • Consent: marketing emails and promotional offers — only if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time.

4. Who we share data with

We share data only where necessary:

  • Payment processors: Stripe and PayPal (PCI-DSS compliant)
  • DVLA and DVSA: for vehicle lookup and MOT history (official government APIs)
  • Email provider: for sending booking confirmations and service emails
  • SMS provider: Twilio, for appointment reminders and payment links
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (anonymised, with your consent)

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

5. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes above:

  • Booking and service records: 6 years (HMRC requirement)
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe
  • Website analytics: 26 months (Google Analytics default)

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (subject access request)
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) where there is no legal basis for retention
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

7. Complaints

If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
