How your scrap price is calculated
Transparent pricing. Base payout minus any applicable deductions for missing components.
Complete car — all parts present
Full base payout for a complete vehicle with catalytic converter, engine, gearbox, and alloy wheels all intact. Free collection within our zone.
Missing catalytic converter
Catalytic converters contain precious metals. If missing or stolen, this deduction applies to reflect the reduced scrap value.
Missing engine or gearbox
Engine and gearbox are significant components. This deduction applies if either is missing from the vehicle.
Missing alloy wheels
Alloy wheels have resale and scrap value. If absent (replaced with steels or missing entirely), this deduction applies.
Lowest configured estimate: £0.00 when all listed deductions apply. Collection is free within our 10-mile zone. The vehicle and reported condition are checked before the valuation is confirmed.
What happens when a car is scrapped?
The lawful end-of-life route matters as much as the valuation. Keep the paperwork that shows where the vehicle went and what happened to it.
Authorised treatment
In England, an end-of-life vehicle must be transferred to an authorised treatment facility. If the facility completely scraps an eligible car or light van, it issues a Certificate of Destruction.
Read the GOV.UK ATF guidance →DVLA and the V5C
Have the V5C log book available where possible and keep the destruction or transfer evidence. The authorised facility's process updates the vehicle record when a Certificate of Destruction is issued.
Check authorised facilities on GOV.UK →Payment and ownership
Scrap value in England and Wales cannot legally be paid in cash; payment must be by bank transfer or cheque. Ownership and identity details are checked before collection is completed.
