Mobile Brake Repair Bradford — Pads, Discs, Calipers | SSK Mechanics

Brakes are the single most critical safety system on your car. SSK Mechanics carries a full range of brake components in our vans — pads, discs, calipers, fluid, sensors, cables — and fits them at your home or workplace.

Braking safety without guesswork

Brake repair based on what is worn — not assumptions

Squealing, grinding, vibration and pulling can come from different brake or tyre faults. We help you choose between pads, pads and discs, fluid work or an investigation before fitting anything.

Brake components are normally renewed across the axle where appropriate so braking remains balanced. Calipers, hoses, ABS sensors and parking-brake mechanisms need separate confirmation when the symptom does not match normal friction wear.

Choose by symptom

What is your braking symptom?

These signs narrow down the sensible first step. They are not a diagnosis: two faults can feel very similar from the driver’s seat.

Squealing or grinding

A light squeal may be wear indication or contamination; grinding can mean the friction material is exhausted and needs urgent inspection.

Book a brake-noise check

Steering wheel shakes under braking

Disc thickness variation is common, but tyre, hub and suspension issues can feel similar.

ABS or brake warning light

An electronic warning needs a scan and physical brake check before an ABS sensor or module is ordered.

Simple brake observations

Only make checks that your vehicle handbook permits, with the car safely parked, switched off and cool where relevant.

  1. With the car parked, look through the wheel for deep disc scoring or a pronounced outer lip; do not touch recently used brakes.
  2. Note whether the noise or vibration happens only while braking, at all speeds or from one corner.
  3. Check the brake-fluid level only as described in the handbook. Do not top it up to hide a sudden drop.

Front Brake Pads & Discs (Both Front Wheels)

New pads and new discs across both front wheels, which is the standard job when the discs are worn, lipped or scored as well as the pads. This is the most-booked brake repair in the country and almost always the right choice if your discs have visible ridges.

Mobile — at your address

Rear Brake Pads & Discs (Both Rear Wheels)

New pads and new discs across both rear wheels, for cars with a normal cable handbrake. If your car has an electronic parking brake, which is a button rather than a lever, choose the electronic version of this job instead.

Free Brake Check (With Paid Work)

Added to paid work at no cost, we measure the material left on your pads and discs and explain how long they have left. A standalone mobile visit is charged at the minimum visit rate.

Rear Brake Pads & Discs (Electronic Handbrake)

The same job as rear pads and discs, but for cars with an electronic parking brake, where the calipers have to be wound back and reset with a scan tool. Choose this one if your handbrake is a button or switch rather than a lever.

Front Brake Pads Only (Both Front Wheels)

New pads across both front wheels, keeping your existing discs. The cheaper option, and the correct one when the discs still have plenty of thickness and no lip on the outer edge.

Rear Brake Pads Only (Both Rear Wheels)

New pads across both rear wheels, keeping your existing discs. The right choice when the rear discs are still within thickness and only the friction material is worn.

Brake Pads & Discs All Round (All Four Wheels)

A complete braking overhaul: new pads and new discs at all four corners in a single visit. The best-value way to buy brakes if everything is worn, and it resets the whole system at once.

Brake Pads All Round (All Four Wheels)

New pads at every corner in one visit, which works out cheaper than booking the two axles separately. Best if both axles are due at the same time or you want everything reset in one go.

Brakes FAQs

Do brake pads and discs need replacing together?

Not automatically. Pads can be renewed alone when discs remain within specification and are not badly scored, cracked or affected by thickness variation. The technician measures and inspects both.

Why are brake parts usually replaced across an axle?

Matching friction components on the left and right helps keep braking response balanced. The correct approach still depends on the vehicle design and the fault found.

Can I keep driving with grinding brakes?

No. Grinding may mean the friction material is exhausted, which can damage discs and reduce braking. Park safely and arrange an urgent inspection.

Can SSK Mechanics do this at my home or workplace?

Many brakes jobs are mobile. Services needing a vehicle lift, controlled workshop equipment or high-voltage isolation are marked as workshop jobs; where available, SSK arranges collection and return.

What if I choose the wrong service?

If you cannot confidently match the symptom to a job, choose Find The Fault instead. The technician investigates the cause and explains the correct repair before parts are ordered, helping you avoid paying for a guessed part.
