MOT testing in Bradford: we collect, test and return your car

SSK Mechanics does not operate its own DVSA test lane. Instead, the car is collected from a home or work address, taken to a certified MOT centre for the official test, and driven back once it is complete, with the option to have it checked over first.

Mobile appointments are subject to postcode, vehicle and safe-access checks. Mechanical prices shown in booking cover labour; required parts and service materials are confirmed separately.

Understand the job

MOT testing in Bradford: we collect, test and return your car: what should be confirmed first?

MOT Collect and Return (£100) covers collection, the official DVSA test itself (the £54.85 government fee is included) and return delivery, with a full digital report sent once the test is finished.

A Pre-MOT Inspection (£110) is a separate, earlier step: a full mechanical check at the vehicle's address covering the areas that fail most MOTs — lights, steering and suspension, brakes, tyres and emissions — with a written report so problems can be fixed before the test is booked, rather than discovered during it.

If the car fails its MOT during Collect and Return, SSK confirms the failure items, quotes the repair separately, and rebooks the free DVSA retest once the work is complete. A Full Service and MOT booked together saves 10% against booking each separately.

Parts matched to the vehicle Established manufacturers, correct specification

When SSK supplies parts, the quote is prepared after the registration and job are checked. Exact brand and availability are confirmed before payment.

Choose by evidence, not guesswork

Common signs and what they do — and do not — prove

The MOT is due or has expired

Every car over three years old needs an annual MOT. Check the exact due date at sskmechanics.com/reg-check, then book Collect and Return for the test itself.

It failed on the same item before

A Pre-MOT Inspection specifically checks the areas that fail most tests, so a previously known weak point can be confirmed and, if needed, fixed before paying for a retest.

Unsure whether it will pass this year

Choose the Pre-MOT Inspection first. The written report separates what genuinely needs fixing from what does not, before the DVSA test fee is committed.

A dashboard warning light is already on

Some warning lights, such as ABS, airbag or brake, correspond directly to automatic MOT failure items. A diagnostic check before the test avoids an avoidable fail.

Service and MOT are both due close together

Booking a Full Service and MOT together is completed in the same visit and saves 10% compared with arranging each separately.

Helpful before the visit

Safe pre-checks you can do

Only make checks permitted by the vehicle handbook, with the car safely parked and switched off where relevant.

  1. Ask someone to confirm all exterior lights and indicators work before the test date.
  2. Check tyre tread depth is above the legal 1.6mm minimum across the central three-quarters of the tyre, with no cuts or bulges.
  3. Top up washer fluid and check the wipers clear the screen fully without smearing or catching.
  4. Confirm the number plate is clean, secure and legible, front and back.
  5. Note down any dashboard warning lights that are already on so they can be mentioned when booking.

Choose the closest confirmed service

If the part or scope has not been confirmed, choose the diagnostic option. This avoids turning a search phrase into an unnecessary replacement.

Customer questions

MOT testing in Bradford: we collect, test and return your car FAQs

Do you do MOT tests?

We do not operate a DVSA-approved MOT test lane. Instead, we offer an MOT Collect and Return service (£100) — we collect your car, take it to a certified MOT centre, and return it with the results.

What does the MOT Collect and Return include?

Collection from your home or workplace, the official DVSA MOT test (£54.85 fee included), and return delivery. You receive a full digital report. Price: £100 all-in.

Can you fix MOT failures?

Yes. If your car fails, we can repair the failure items and rebook the free retest. We give you a quote for the repairs before proceeding.

How often does my car need an MOT?

Every car over 3 years old in the UK needs an annual MOT test. You can check when yours is due for free at sskmechanics.com/reg-check.

What is a Pre-MOT Inspection?

Our Pre-MOT Inspection (£110) is a full check of everything the MOT examiner will test — lights, brakes, suspension, emissions, tyres, steering. We flag anything that needs fixing before you take it for the test, so you avoid a costly retest.

Can I book a service and MOT together?

Yes. Our Full Service + MOT bundle saves 10% compared to booking separately.
