Chrysler servicing, diagnostics and repairs
Book the vehicle, derivative and job—not a generic badge
SSK Mechanics accepts suitable Chrysler work across Bradford and West Yorkshire. The team confirms the registration, model, engine or powertrain, service history and symptoms before accepting specialist or workshop-dependent work.
Chrysler models and variants
The current make registry includes 300C, Grand Voyager, PT Cruiser, Crossfire, Delta. This list is descriptive, not a promise that every job on every derivative can be completed mobile. Registration-specific checks decide parts, fluids, tools and the safest repair setting.
Common Chrysler issues our technicians see in Bradford
- Automatic transmission torque converter shudder
- Electrical window regulator failure
- EGR valve carbon build-up
Chrysler vehicles share many components with Fiat and Dodge. Our technicians are experienced with Stellantis group diagnostics and carry the correct scan tools.
When SSK supplies parts, the quote is prepared after the registration and job are checked. Exact brand and availability are confirmed before payment.
Brands shown are familiar manufacturer examples, not a guarantee that a particular brand fits every vehicle or an endorsement by its owner.
Chrysler owners, this one's for you
Chrysler doesn't sell new cars in the UK any more. The brand was wound down here between 2015 and 2017, and there's no Chrysler dealer network left to speak of. If you own a Chrysler 300C, a Grand Voyager, a PT Cruiser, a Delta or an Ypsilon, that leaves you in an odd spot: a genuinely good car with nowhere official to take it.
That's exactly the gap SSK Mechanics fills. We're a mobile mechanic based in Bradford, covering Bradford and the wider West Yorkshire area, including Leeds, Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield. We come to your home or workplace, we're qualified and insured, and we know our way around the shared Mercedes-Benz and Fiat running gear that sits under most UK-spec Chryslers. You don't have to hunt for a dealer that doesn't exist any more. You just book us.
Why an independent mobile mechanic makes more sense for a Chrysler than it ever did
When Chrysler was still selling cars here, taking yours to a franchised dealer at least meant genuine parts and factory diagnostic kit. That option is gone now. Every Chrysler on a UK road today is a used car, and its owner is already relying on independent garages, whether they realise it or not.
Here's the thing most owners don't know: it barely matters. Chrysler's UK range leaned heavily on other manufacturers' engineering. The 300C's 3.0 CRD diesel is a Mercedes-Benz unit from the OM642 family - the same engine family used in contemporary Mercedes saloons and SUVs. The PT Cruiser's 2.2 diesel is Mercedes-sourced too. The Crossfire was built on Mercedes SLK underpinnings with a Mercedes M112 V6 under the bonnet. And the Delta and Ypsilon, badged Chrysler in the UK but engineered by Fiat, share their 1.4 petrol and Multijet diesel engines with contemporary Lancia and Fiat models. Even the Grand Voyager's later diesel came from VM Motori, a supplier used across several European brands.
What that means in practice is simple: the servicing and diagnostic knowledge doesn't disappear just because Chrysler did. A mechanic who understands Mercedes-Benz diesel engines of that era, or Fiat-Lancia running gear, understands most of what's actually ticking away under your Chrysler's bonnet. That's the whole basis of what we do here - we're not guessing at a rare badge, we're working on mechanicals we already know well from other marques.
Models we work on
We service and repair the full range of Chryslers that were sold new in the UK, and we're happy to work on any of them at your home or workplace rather than asking you to find a garage.
Chrysler 300C (2005-2010) - the flagship saloon and estate, sold with 2.7 and 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines, the big 5.7 Hemi V8, and the 3.0 CRD V6 diesel that most UK buyers chose for tax and running-cost reasons. It's an imposing car and a genuinely comfortable one, but owner feedback consistently points to electrical gremlins as the main long-term weak spot - wiring that chafes in the engine bay and causes intermittent faults, plus flickering headlights. These aren't expensive problems to diagnose properly, but they need a mechanic who knows to look for them rather than replacing parts on a guess.
Chrysler Grand Voyager and Voyager - the big seven-seat family MPV, badged Chrysler in the UK and Ireland right through several generations even after the rest of Europe switched to Lancia branding. Diesel power came from VM Motori 2.5 and later 2.8-litre CRD units. The later 2.8 diesel/automatic combination has a well-known quirk: the gearbox can hunt between gears on motorway inclines, shifting down more than it needs to. It's also not the most economical MPV of its era. None of that makes it a bad family car - it's spacious, well-equipped and comfortable - but it does mean the drivetrain benefits from someone who's seen the pattern before.
Chrysler PT Cruiser - the retro-styled hatchback with a genuine cult following, sold new through the 2000s with a 2.0-litre petrol or a 2.2 Mercedes-sourced turbodiesel. The diesel in particular shares its DNA with contemporary Mercedes engines, which is useful for anyone still running one today - injector and EGR wear patterns are well understood even if the badge on the bonnet says Chrysler.
Chrysler Delta (2011-2014) - a rebadged Lancia Delta sold as a Chrysler in the UK and Ireland, with 1.4 petrol and 1.6 or 2.0-litre Multijet diesel options. Being Fiat-engineered, the mechanicals underneath are solid and dependable. The 1.6 diesel is known for being noisy, especially on a cold start, and some owners note noticeable body roll through corners - characterful rather than sporty, but nothing that regular suspension and servicing attention can't manage.
Chrysler Ypsilon (2012-2015) - another rebadged Lancia, this time the smaller Ypsilon supermini, sold under the Chrysler name in the UK, Ireland and Japan. It was always a low-volume car here - around 2,000 were sold in the UK in 2014, its last full year on sale - so parts and specialist knowledge are genuinely scarce. We're set up to work on it regardless.
Chrysler Crossfire (2004-2008) - a proper rarity, with only around 4,129 right-hand-drive examples ever built. It was built by Karmann in Germany on Mercedes-Benz SLK underpinnings, using the Mercedes M112 3.2-litre V6, either naturally aspirated or supercharged in SRT-6 form. If you own one of these, you already know how hard it is to find anyone who'll touch it with confidence. Because the running gear is pure Mercedes, we can.
Chrysler Sebring (2007-2010) - the third-generation Sebring was the only one ever sold in right-hand drive in the UK; the earlier generation never made it here officially. It's a rare sight on British roads today, which makes finding anyone with parts knowledge and service history for it even harder. We'll work on it.
Servicing built around your car's actual age and engine, not a guess
There's no live Chrysler UK service schedule to point to any more - the dealer network that used to publish one doesn't exist. Rather than quote you a mileage figure we can't verify for a discontinued brand, we service your Chrysler the way any sensible independent garage services an ageing European petrol or diesel car of this age and mileage: an annual service as standard, with additional mileage-based checks layered on top for cambelt or timing chain condition, and - on the diesel-engined models - injector and EGR health, since those are the areas most likely to cause trouble as these engines age.
Because we know the origin of each engine, we service it the way you'd service its badge-engineered cousin. The 300C's 3.0 CRD gets treated with the same care you'd give a contemporary Mercedes diesel of the same engine family. The Delta and Ypsilon get the attention you'd give a Fiat or Lancia of the same era. That's not a marketing line - it's simply the most accurate way to look after a car built on someone else's engineering.
You can see exactly what a full or interim service involves, and how it's priced, on our servicing page, or just head straight to /book/, enter your registration, and get an instant, itemised quote before we arrange anything.
Diagnostics for the faults Chrysler owners actually report
Diagnostics is where an independent Chrysler specialist earns their keep, because the most commonly reported problem across the range - especially on the 300C - is electrical, not mechanical. Wiring that chafes against other components in the engine bay can cause intermittent short circuits, warning lights that come and go, and flickering headlights that don't point to an obvious single cause. It's the kind of fault that's easy to misdiagnose if you're not looking for it specifically, and expensive to fix by trial and error.
Our diagnostics service uses proper fault-finding equipment to trace electrical faults back to their actual source rather than throwing parts at the symptom. On the automatic Grand Voyager, we can also assess whether unusual gearbox behaviour - excessive downshifting on inclines, for instance - is a genuine mechanical issue or just the transmission's known characteristic for that model, so you're not paying to "fix" something that was never actually broken.
Brakes, clutch, electrics and the rest
Beyond servicing and diagnostics, we cover every major system your Chrysler is likely to need work on as it ages. Brakes and suspension components wear the same way on a Chrysler as on any other car of similar age and mileage - pads, discs, bushes and shock absorbers all have a service life, and on the Delta's noted body roll, suspension condition is worth checking sooner rather than later. If your Grand Voyager or 300C is a manual (rarer, but they exist) or you're having drivetrain trouble on any model, our clutch and transmission teams can help, including assessing that Grand Voyager automatic gearbox behaviour properly.
Given how often electrical faults come up on these cars, our electrical system and battery diagnostics are worth mentioning on their own - this is genuinely one of the more common reasons a Chrysler owner calls us. We also cover engine work across the shared Mercedes and Fiat/VM Motori powertrains, cooling system repairs, steering, exhaust, and air conditioning - all the systems that keep an ageing car comfortable and reliable rather than just moving.
Whatever's brought you to this page - a warning light, a noise, an MOT that's coming up, or just wanting someone reliable on standby - the fastest way to find out what it'll cost is to put your registration into our booking page and get an itemised quote before anything is arranged.
MOT preparation for an ageing, low-volume car
Every Chrysler still on the road in the UK is now at least a decade old, and several of the rarer models - the Crossfire, the Sebring, the Ypsilon - are pushing well past that. Age brings the same wear points any European petrol or diesel car of that vintage picks up: suspension bushes that have hardened and started knocking, exhaust sections that have corroded, and on the diesel-engined cars, EGR valves and DPF systems (where fitted) that need checking before they cause an MOT failure rather than after.
We can carry out a pre-MOT check ahead of your test date, catching the kind of fault that fails a test outright - a worn bush, a corroded brake line, an emissions issue - while there's still time to fix it without the pressure of a looming deadline. For cars this age and this rare, we'd always rather find a problem on a Tuesday afternoon than have you find out about it at the test centre.
What it actually costs, honestly compared
There's no Chrysler main dealer left in the UK to compare our prices against directly, which is part of the point of this page. What you're really comparing us to is a general independent garage, or a specialist who happens to also service Mercedes-Benz or Fiat models and can turn their hand to a Chrysler.
We don't inflate prices because a badge is rare. Our pricing is transparent and itemised before any work starts - you see exactly what you're paying for, parts and labour, before you commit to anything. Because we come to you rather than you coming to us, you also save the time and hassle of driving to a garage, waiting around, or arranging a courtesy car, which matters more the older and less common your Chrysler gets and the further you might otherwise have to travel to find someone who'll take it on.
Why choose SSK over hunting for a dealer that isn't there
The honest truth is that Chrysler owners in the UK don't have an official option any more. What you're choosing between is independent garages of varying familiarity with the brand, and a specialist who's actually built service knowledge around what these cars share with manufacturers that are still very much on the road.
We're qualified, insured technicians who come to your home or workplace, whether that's in Bradford itself or anywhere across our West Yorkshire coverage area. You get an instant, itemised quote before we arrange anything, transparent pricing throughout, and a mechanic who understands that your 300C's diesel is really a Mercedes engine under a different badge, or that your Delta's running gear is Fiat-proven even if the badge says otherwise. That's not a workaround for a discontinued brand - it's arguably a better starting point than the dealer network ever gave Chrysler owners, since it means we're drawing on decades of servicing know-how from the manufacturers that actually built the mechanicals.

Frequently asked questions
Is Chrysler still available to buy new in the UK?
No. Chrysler was withdrawn from new-car sale in the UK, with the wind-down completing by 2017. There's no current UK dealer network, which is exactly why an independent mobile mechanic who knows the platform is worth having.
Can you get parts for a Chrysler without a dealer network?
Many Chrysler parts cross-reference to their Mercedes-Benz or Fiat/Lancia equivalents, since several UK-spec models used those manufacturers' engines and running gear. We source parts through those channels where they apply, and we'll always tell you honestly if something is genuinely hard to find for a specific model.
My 300C's headlights flicker and warning lights come and go - is that serious?
It's the most commonly reported issue on the 300C, usually caused by wiring chafing in the engine bay rather than a major component failure. It's worth getting looked at properly with proper diagnostic fault-finding rather than guessing, which is exactly what our diagnostics service is for.
Do you work on rare models like the Crossfire or Sebring?
Yes. The Crossfire shares its running gear with the Mercedes-Benz SLK, so we're well placed to service it despite how few were ever built in right-hand drive. The Sebring is also covered.
How do I get a price for my Chrysler?
